The Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Public Administration is open to civil servants and other public sector staff who would like to organise study visits, internships and network activities in order to strengthen cooperation between Nordic and Baltic ministries, regional offices and local authorities. The deadline for proposals is 30 March 2015. The cooperation grant will cover 60 per cent of the travel and accommodation expenses and daily allowances of projects from 2015 onwards. One of the most important eligibility requirements for the programme is the participation of at least three NB8 countries (Estonia, Iceland, Lithuania, Latvia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark) in the intended project. Applying is easy – see www.nb8grants.org.

According to the coordinator of the programme Madis Kanarbik, anyone interested in the grant should start preparing the projects as early as possible, as finding partners may take longer than expected. “Using the search option on the programme’s website www.nb8grants.org is an option of finding partners. You can leave your own request there and view the information left by others,” says Kanarbik to encourage applicants to use the website.

The programme distributed a budget of approximately 300,000 euros between 69 projects in 2014. Solna City in Sweden is an example of a successful applicant with its project that concerned young school dropouts, youth unemployment and exclusion in Nordic countries and the Baltic states. Head of the Children, Youth and Education Department of Solna City Anne Rönnberg says that the project helps them work successfully towards the achievement of the goals of Europe 2020 and increase the competitive power of the Baltic Sea Region. “The programme surpassed our expectations,” says Rönnberg. “It finances exactly the kind of activities necessary for initiating cooperation with partners from other countries.”

Visit the programme’s website www.nb8grants.org if you need more information or would like to apply.
